New Professional Learning Platform Coming September 1st

Professional learning registration is moving to Â鶹´«Ã½AV Learning Online at , creating one centralized platform for professional learning across all Iowa Â鶹´«Ã½AVs.

Beginning September 1, 2026, professional learning support will be coordinated through the statewide Â鶹´«Ã½AV Learning Online team at Heartland Â鶹´«Ã½AV. The refreshed platform will offer authorizations, courses, trainings, and certifications, with online, virtual, blended, and in-person opportunities all in one place.

This statewide transition is designed to create a more consistent experience, reduce duplicate work across Â鶹´«Ã½AVs, and give educators one place to find learning opportunities and track their professional learning records.

What You Need to Know

  • Sessions completed on or before August 31 will remain in
  • Sessions ending after August 31 will be completed through .
  • Course and record migration has been completed for courses with registration end dates after August 31.
  • Instructors can complete attendance, grades, and close courses in escWorks through the end of September.

What This Means for GWÂ鶹´«Ã½AV

  • At Grant Wood Â鶹´«Ã½AV, Carie Finnegan will continue to assist with local room reservations at GWÂ鶹´«Ã½AV for professional learning offerings held at GWÂ鶹´«Ã½AV locations.
  • Our Professional Learning Office now houses the GWÂ鶹´«Ã½AV Data Team (formerly known as IMS-Information Management System). We no longer maintain an office space dedicated to professional learning.
  • Emily Birkbeck does not support professional learning at all at GWÂ鶹´«Ã½AV moving forward. She is no longer in the administrative assistant role in Professional Learning as she currently serves in the role of Executive Administrative Assistant now with new roles and responsibilities.
  • Carie Finnegan provides support to Professional Learning by making room reservations (locally) at GWÂ鶹´«Ã½AV for any courses/PD offerings offered at one of our GWÂ鶹´«Ã½AV locations.
  • All PD correspondence about course proposals; course approvals; communication between course instructors; registration; Â鶹´«Ã½AV Learning Online questions and/or issues; billing; and all other professional development questions or concerns will be handled by Â鶹´«Ã½AV Learning Online at Heartland Â鶹´«Ã½AV.
  • For matters related to professional development, GWÂ鶹´«Ã½AV staff can receive assistance by calling the Support Desk at (515) 473-7164, emailing support@aealearningonline.org, or submitting a form.

These changes are part of a broader effort to create a more cohesive statewide professional learning system and make it easier for educators to find, register for, and track learning opportunities.
